Privacy policy

We recognize the importance of protecting our customer’s personal information, comply with the Japanese Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), and endeavor to appropriately handle and protect our customer’s personal information in accordance with this privacy policy (hereinafter referred to as the “Privacy Policy”).

1 Personal Information

In this Privacy Policy, the term “personal information” refers to personal information as defined by Article 2 (1) of the Act, namely, information about a living individual personal information which can identify the specific individual by name, date of birth or other description contained in such information (including any information that can be easily collated with other information and thereby used to identify that specific individual) or information containing individual identification code.

2 Purpose of Use

We use the Personal Information on our customers for the following purposes:

  1. To provide our services

  2. To provide information about our services and respond to inquiries

  3. To provide information about our products and services

  4. To take action against acts that violate our terms of service, policies, and other rules related to our services (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Terms”)

  5. To notify the changes in the Terms related to our services

  6. To utilize the Personal Information to improve our services and/or develop new services

  7. To create statistical data by processing it in a format that cannot identify individuals, in relation to our services

  8. Other purposes incidental to those listed above

3 Change of Purpose of Use of the Personal Information

We may change the purpose of use of the Personal Information within a scope reasonably deemed relevant, and we will publicly announce or notify such change, if any.

4 Restriction on the Use of the Personal Information

We do not handle any Personal Information beyond the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use without obtaining the consent of our customers, except as permitted by the Act or other laws and regulations. However, this shall not apply to the following cases:

  1. cases in which the handling of the Personal Information is based on laws and regulations

  2. cases in which the handling of the Personal Information is necessary for the protection of the life, body, or property of an individual and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the customer

  3. cases in which the handling of the Personal Information is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children and in which it is difficult to obtain the consent of the customer

  4. cases in which the handling of the Personal Information is necessary for cooperating with a state organ, a local government, or an individual or a business operator entrusted by either of the former two in executing the affairs prescribed by laws and regulations and in which obtaining the consent of the customer is likely to impede the execution of the affairs concerned

5 Proper Acquisition of the Personal Information

We collect the Personal Information in an appropriate manner, without using deception or other improper means."

6 Security Control of the Personal Information

We conduct necessary and appropriate supervision over our employees to ensure the security control of the Personal Information against potential risks such as loss, destruction, alteration, and leakage of the Personal Information. In addition, if we entrust the whole or part the handling of the Personal Information to an individual or a business operation, we shall conduct necessary and appropriate supervision over such individual or business operator to ensure that such individual or business operator implements the security control of the Personal Information .

7 Provision of the Personal Information to Third Parties

We do not provide any Personal Information to any third party without the prior consent of our customer, except as permitted by the Act or other laws and regulations. Notwithstanding the foregoing, the following cases do not constitute the provision of the Personal Information to a third party.

  1. cases in which we provide the Personal Information to a third party in connection with the outsourcing of all or part of the handling of such information, within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use.

  2. cases in which the Personal Information is provided in the event of succession of the business due to a merger or other reasons.

  3. cases in which the Personal Information is used jointly pursuant to the provisions of the Act.

8 Disclosure of the Personal Information

If the customer requests the disclosure of their Personal Information under the provisions of the Act, we will make the disclosure to the customer without delay after verifying that the request was made by the customer themselves (or notify the customer if we do not retain any of such Personal Information). However, this shall not apply to a case where we are not obliged to disclose the Personal Information under the Act and/or other laws and regulations.

9 Correction of the Personal Information

If the customer requests the correction, addition, or deletion (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Correction”) of their Personal Information on the grounds that such Personal Information is inaccurate, we will conduct necessary investigation to the extent required to fulfill the purpose of use without delay, after verifying that the request was made by the customer themselves. We will implement the Correction of the Personal Information based on the result of such investigation and notify the customer accordingly. (If we decide not to implement the Correction, we will inform thereof to the customer). However, this shall not apply to the case where we are not obliged to implement the Correction under the Act or other laws and regulations.

10 Suspension of Use of the Personal Information

If the customer requests the suspension of use or deletion (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Suspension”) of their Personal Information under the provisions of the Act or other laws and regulations, on the grounds that the customer’s Personal Information was handled beyond the scope of disclosed purpose of use or was collected using deception or other improper means, and that it is determined that there are grounds for that request, we will implement the Suspension without delay after verifying that the request was made by the customer themselves and notify the customer accordingly. However, this shall not apply to the case where we are not obliged to implement the Suspension under the Act or other laws and regulations.

11 Use of Cookie and Other Technologies

  1. We may use Cookie and other similar technologies in our services. These technologies help us understand how our services are used and enable us to improve our services. Users of our services who wish to disable Cookie can do so by changing the setting on such users’ browser. However, some features of our services may become unavailable if Cookie is disabled.

  2. We use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, on our services to investigate and analyze how our services are used. Users of our services are encouraged to visit Google LCC’s website for more information on how Google Analytics collects and processes data and the detailed information on Google Analytics.
